Penguin Awareness Day is Monday 20th January Use any art materials to add the colour for the land and sea on the earth outline. You could use sponges or cue tips with paint, water colours, pastels or collage. The pictures will prompt discussion about where penguins and polar bears live.

4 New Year Funky Finger Activities. 2 cutting sheets to cut out and stick on black paper 2 colouring sheets to prompt a discussion about the new year.

Big Garden Birdwatch 24th - 26th January 10 named birds with a numeral from 1- 10 on each log. Add a bowl of chopped pipe cleaners to represent worms. Count the correct number of worms to match the numeral on the bird.

6 mats to sort pom poms. Each colour represnts a planet or element of space. They will encourage discussions about space, naming the different planets, sorting and counting.

Alligator mats based on the character from the book (Alans Big Scary Teeth). Laminate the mats and use whiteboard pens to create marks. Children can use an old toothbrush to brush the marks away.

16 different poppy images on log slices to support any Poppy Day activities. These would be great to have out when children are creating their own representation of poppies. I would pair these with loose parts (red and green) or black paper and pastels/ paint.

A set of 12 Rangoli pattern tiles to support learning about Diwali. 6 on a neutral background and 6 on a black background. They will support a number of fine motor and creative activities.

Four firework themed pictures to use to develop fine motor skills. Have a selection of pom poms for children to sort and use tweezers to put them on the correct colour. They would be great linked to Bonfire Night or Diwali.
